Tyze.com

Tyze is a project run by PLAN Institute, whose work focuses on creating caring communities and decreasing isolation for marginalized members of our society. It is a tool for creating networks of care and building strong "social support networks" around community members who might otherwise live more isolated lives. (Click here to read more about Tyze.)

We added several new feature improvements to the core Tyze site, including photo uploads to stories, a new and improved invitation system, and user specific time zones. We then created a Drupal Tyze Install Profile, a theme picker to select various colour variations of the Tyze theme, and set up Aegir (then Hostmaster2) to host multiple copies of the Tyze site. When completed, these tools, provided PLAN Institute Tyze admins with the ability to do a quick and easy deployment of a new Tyze community site with a custom coloured theme for new communities joining their network.

Developing this site and system using what was at the time cutting edge Drupal technology was an amazing learning opportunity, and chance to put into practice Drupal's ability to scale into large multisite platforms.
